Black Panther 2 will resume shooting with Letitia Wright next week

Black Panther 2, Letitia Wright, Wakanda Forever

It was reported last summer that Letitia Wright had been hospitalized after a stunt rig incident on the set of Black Panther 2. At the time, a Marvel spokesperson said, “Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’ She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon.” It was later revealed that those injuries were more serious than first thought as the production of the Black Panther sequel actually had to be shut down in November to allow Wright time to fully recover.

THR has now reported that production on Black Panther 2 will be restarting next week now that Letitia Wright is fully healed and heading back to Atlanta. Shooting was supposed to resume on Monday but was delayed after several members of the cast and crew, including Lupita Nyong’o, tested positive for COVID-19. Given Letitia Wright’s comments on vaccines and the CDC requiring all “non-immigrant, non-citizen air travelers to the U.S. to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination status before boarding a plane,” some questioned whether or not Letitia Wright would even be able to return. Nothing has been said regarding Wright’s vaccination status, but several sources told THR that “those issues have been resolved.” It’s expected that production will last for a four-week period.

In addition to Letitia Wright, much of the original cast has returned for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, including Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Martin Freeman, and Florence Kasumba. New additions include Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You) as well as Dominique Thorne, who will be making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Riri Williams ahead of the Ironheart series for Disney+. The Black Panther sequel will hit theaters on November 11, 2022.
