Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that several weeks ago that production on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had officially begun at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta. Although much of the original cast has returned, it won't quite be the same without Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa. "It’s clearly very emotional without Chad," Feige said. "But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud."
Despite the assumption that most of the original cast will be back for Black Panther: Wakanda Forver, there has been little official confirmation, so we've had to rely on the actors themselves. While speaking with Collider, Winston Duke revealed that he will be returning as M'Baku for the Black Panther sequel.
It was very emotional to read the script. It was emotional to pack to go back to set. But we're all a bit of a family now and we grieve together, and we're making something really special.
I certainly don't envy the monumental task that Marvel has on their hands with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as not only do they have to deliver a great film, but they also have to pay respect to Chadwick Boseman's legacy. Ryan Coogler will once again be directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is slated for a July 8, 2022 release.
