So how many times have you clocked BLACK SWAN? Does it hold up with each repeated viewing?
Well the writer of the film, Mark Heyman (seen above with director Darren Aronofsky), is currently circulating a new BLACK SWAN-esque script called XOXO. Word is Aronofsky will co-produce the film, which will again fuse high and low culture in a thrilling horror scenario.
Here’s how the L.A. Times parses the synopsis:
XOXO tells of a twentysomething man who meets a female contemporary on Facebook and begins a digital relationship with her, only to find the object of his affections take the relationship to an obsessed and stalker-y place. Think “Fatal Attraction (but with Facebook).
Comparisons to CATFISH have also been drawn, primarily due to the mystery and intrigue revolving around shady online identities. I saw CATFISH last week by the way, thought it was a fascinating watch.
Since BLACK SWAN hit it big, Heyman has been in high demand. He apparently has a script in the works called AGE OF RAGE, which Marc Webb (500 DAYS OF SUMMER, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) is attached to direct. That flick will revolve around teenagers who fight a virus in an apocalyptic America. Heyman also wrote MACHINE MAN, a ROBOCOP type action-thriller Aronofsky was eyeing to helm at one point. Both flicks are bound to catch some run here at AITH. So stay tuned.
