Black Xmas Haters

While many of us hate the idea of the BLACK CHRISTMAS remake, it’s generally because it’s a remake that looks like a pile of crap, but believe it or not, we’re not the only ones hatin’ on it. For entirely different reasons altogether, certain religious groups are against and downright pissed off at the release of BLACK CHRISTMAS this holiday season because a movie that emphasizes murder and mayhem at Christmas, a time of celebration and joy around the world seems to be ill founded.

Yes, the religious right is just a tad ticked off that a movie that involves killing, murder and mayhem set around the holiday is going to be released on the day of Christ’s alleged birth. Specifically Mathew Staver of Liberty Counsel, an organization dedicated to upholding religious freedom and traditional family values, and Jennifer Giroux, who co-founded Operation Just Say Merry Christmas. They’re pissed, and they don’t care who knows it! Giroux released a statement saying The use of religious music — ‘Silent Night’ — and the nativity set on the front porch in one scene are insensitive to Christians… It’s not enough to ignore and omit Christmas, but now it has to be offended, insulted and desecrated. Our most sacred holiday, actually a holy day, is being assaulted.

You hear that? Assaulted. This is probably where you’d expect me to jump out of the bushes wearing only my birthday suite and say December Fools!, and we all have a laugh at how ridiculous this is, but alas… it’s really true. Not that it should surprise anyone, as I’m pretty sure the original, as well as copycat’s like SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT got the shaft upon their release back in the 70s and 80s. Just goes to show, no matter what decade you’re in, people are stupid.
