Just when you think the drama that has been surrounding the BLADE series in the last month is over… there’s more! But this is a little different twist… and I don’t really know what to make of it.
SuperHero Hype got wind that SPIKE TV president Doug Herzog plans on adapting BLADE as a two hour mini-series for the TV network.
“The action-adventure genre is largely ignored in today’s television landscape, and we know it is something that our male viewers really want. Blade is a great movie franchise with an established brand that men already recognize and identify with.”
Director of BLADE: TRINITY, and writer of all 3 BLADE films David Goyer is executive producing this made-for-TV BLADE movie. Ok. I’m somewhat speechless right now, and I don’t really know why. They’re not making a TV series out of it. They’re making another movie installment. Made for TV.
I guess I didn’t realize the franchise was in a sucking state of mind until just now. I mean, can you imagine after SPIDERMAN 3, they decided to make another installment in a made-for-TV movie? People would be laughing their asses off. Well… at least I would be laughing my ass off!
The big question: will Wesley ‘I really am Blade’ Snipes be back for the made for TV sequel? Depends on how crazy Snipes actually is…
