Blake Lively to star in post-apocalyptic Dark Days at the Magna Carta

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Blake Lively is joining forces with Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy to produce a post-apocalyptic thriller for Netflix. Lively will also star in the film, which is titled DARK DAYS AT THE MAGNA CARTA.

Details on the screenplay written by Michael Paisley are scarce, but we do know it's a character-driven story about

a woman who must take extreme measures during a catastrophic event in order to save her family.

If the filmmakers get their way this woman will apparently have to take extreme measures multiple times, because the hope is that this will become a franchise for Lively.

THE RHYTHM SECTION was released earlier this year with hope that it would start a franchise for Lively as well, but since it made less than $6 million at the global box office that's obviously not going to happen. Hopefully things will work out better for DARK DAYS AT THE MAGNA CARTA on Netflix.

Lively is producing the film through her company B for Effort with Kate Vorhoff, while Levy and Dan Cohen will be producing through their company 21 Laps. It doesn't look like a director has been hired yet.

I was impressed when Lively played a genre heroine in 2016's THE SHALLOWS, so I look forward to seeing how DARK DAYS AT THE MAGNA CARTA will turn out.
