Ever since last year’s MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D the writing/directing duo of Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier have been a pretty hot commodity in the genre. Now before I get ahead of myself here, today’s update only involves Patrick Lussier, so Mr. Farmer will have to take a backseat for now.

You see, the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting are saying that Lussier is currently eyeing a vampire flick called IN DARKNESS. What’s the deal with IN DARKNESS? Well let me tell you!

IN DARKNESS follows a young, ambitious female public defender who must try and get an acquittal for a man who claims he killed his wife to save her soul; the shocker being that he claims his wife was a vampire. But the best defense – proving that vampires really exist – puts the attorney’s life in danger.

That actually sounds pretty cool to me. It also makes you wonder why something like this hasn’t been done before… or has it? Nothing comes to mind so I’m going to chalk this one up as pretty damn original! And intriguing to boot! The only other details we’re given is that the script comes from ROAD HOUSE director Rowdy Herrington.

Now mind you, this update today only has Lussier (above) in talks to direct the film. Nothing is set in stone and this actually sounds like it could be a long way from becoming a done deal. But what do you guys think? Would you like to see Lussier step away from the world of 3D genre gimmicks and try his hand at an original vampire piece like IN DARKNESS? Hit us with your thoughts below and keep it here for more on the project as we hear it!
