Blue Underground reveals artwork, special features for Snuff special editon

Blue Underground has released the artwork and details for their upcoming release of the notorious 1976 horror film SNUFF, which the company will be releasing on DVD and Blu-Ray in a Special Edition on October 22 2013.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the film, SNUFF was originally called SLAUGHTER, and came to us from husband/wife filmmaker team Michael and Roberta Findlay. Independent low-budget distributor and sometime producer Allan Shackleton took the film and shelved it for four years, but was inspired to release it with a new ending, unbeknownst to the original filmmakers, after reading a newspaper article in 1975 on the rumor of snuff films produced in South America and decided to cash in on the urban legend.

The films' synopsis reads:

Deep in South America, a Manson-like cult leader named Satan cavorts with his bevy of beautiful biker-chick followers while compelling them to kill in his name. When sexy American actress Terry London arrives with producer Max Marsh to shoot a new movie there, the creepy cult targets her and her friends with plans of murder, mayhem and the grisly sacrifice of her unborn baby. Is the final bloody massacre only a movie? Or is it the shocking footage of an actual murder committed before the camera?

Blue Underground releases SNUFF in the two disc formats October 22, each with a “blood red” case available with the first pressing only and a reversible sleeve with the alternate artwork. Produced with the participation of award-winning filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, these releases of Michael and Roberta Findlay’s South American slaughter story (capped by alleged “real murder” footage) feature 1.66:1 widescreen transfers with the original mono soundtrack (in DTS-HD on the Blu-ray).
