Bodies Bodies Bodies is a project that has had our attention here at Arrow in the Head ever since A24 acquired the slasher spec script written by Kristen Roupenian back in March of 2018. A24 finally pushed the movie into production last year, with Halina Reijn, who made her feature directorial debut with the 2019 Dutch thriller Instinct, at the helm… and now the film is ready to be seen by an audience. As reported by Fangoria, Bodies Bodies Bodies will be having its world premiere at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival, which is set to run from March 11th through the 19th in Austin, Texas, and here is the first image ahead of the premiere.

In anticipation of the SXSW premiere, a first look image from Bodies Bodies Bodies has been released online and can be seen at the bottom of this article. This image shows us four of the film’s characters, and it looks like they’ve been having quite a rough time trying to make it through this slasher.

Roupenian’s script was said to show “heightened sensitivity to character development and social dynamics in a subversive way”, and was described as

a shrewd character study where mystery and deep-seated scares blended in such a way that the company saw an opportunity to make a horror movie that could also be culturally relevant.

According to the credits provided by SXSW, the script got some touch-up work from Sarah Delappe, Chloe Okuno, Joshua Sharp, and Aaron Jackson in the time between acquisition and production. The film has the following synopsis:

When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game turns deadly in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.

Bodies Bodies Bodies stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Pete Davidson (The King of Staten Island), Rachel Sennott (Shiva Baby), Myha’la Herrold (Industry), Chase Sui Wonders (Generation), Conner O’Malley (Palm Springs), and Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy).
