Maybe one of the funniest motherf*ckers out right now, Sacha Baron Cohen, who’s BORAT is busting guts and breaking box office records, has just signed to star in Tim Burton’s SWEENEY TODD, alongside Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Nice!
Cohen will play Signor Adolfo Pirelli, another barber and the arch nemesis of Todd and his lover Mrs. Lovett, who get their kicks out of murdering folks and grinding up the bodies for some tasty meat pies.
Not only is Cohen funny, but the guy brings all sorts of crazy energy to his roles, as his character in TALLADEGA NIGHTS, not to mention all the characters he plays on ‘Da Ali G Show’, are all completely different and unique in their own ways. That’s saying a lot, as most comic actors are basically playing themselves in every role (i.e., Will Ferrell, who’s funny as hell, but always plays Will Ferrell).
Filming is set to begin in February over in London, so stick around as I’m sure the cast for SWEENEY TODD will only get better and better.
