A feature-film adaptation of Gearbox Software's best-selling Borderlands video-game franchise was announced six years ago and production on the project finally kicked off this April under the direction of Eli Roth. With an all-star cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Edgar Ramierez, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, and more, Borderlands is shaping up to be a rather interesting adaptation, and thanks to Jamie Lee Curtis, we've got our first look — albeit a silhouetted one — at Cate Blanchett as Lilith.
Curtis secretly snapped the behind-the-scenes image of Cate Blanchett as Lilith, who she describes as "our legendary heroine, psycho blasting, vault hunting vixen with a bad attitude." I'll admit to never having played any of the Borderlands games, so my knowledge of the franchise is pretty much non-existent, but based on the synopsis, it sounds like some wacky, adventure-filled fun. Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous treasure hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Edgar Ramirez), the universe’s most powerful S.O.B. Borderlands doesn't have an official release date yet, but is expected to hit theaters in 2022.
