Earlier this week we got official word that Lionsgate/Twisted Pictures was coming back for a SAW III, after so much success with SAW II last Halloween. And when is it hitting theaters? This Halloween, of course!
Today, Darren Lynn Bousman, the director of SAW II and announced director of the upcoming SAW III, talked with Fangoria about what we can expect from SAW III, and why they decided to do another sequel so quickly. Here’s a little tidbit of what he had to say:
“This one is for the fans. It’s a complete fan-based movie; there are no studio execs telling us what they want to see here. This is for the SAW buffs in every aspect, and it’s going to have a lot of stuff they won’t expect to see. And believe me, they ain’t seen anything yet. The opening deaths in this film are going to put SAW II to shame.”
Holy. Shitballs. I think I just speemed in my shorts. I thought SAW rocked, and I really dug SAW II- and the announcement was more of a confirmation of something we all knew was going to happen- and why not? They’re quality horror films that bring in the bank. They have the best of both worlds.
And to those that are worried about rushing part 3, let’s not forget that part 2 pretty much had the same rushed schedule, and it turned out just fine and dandy (it even won Best Horror Film of the Year at this year’s Golden Schmoes Movie Awards). Plus, SAW II director Bousman, and writing/producing team Leigh Whannell and James Wan are set to return- what’s not to love her people?
