Twenty-one years after co-writing Nicolas Winding Refn‘s feature directorial debut Pusher, and after racking up numerous credits writing for television shows, Jens Dahl made his own feature directorial debut with the 2017 thriller 3 Things. Now Dahl’s second film Breeder (coincidentally, Refn’s second film was the similarly titled Bleeder) is set to receive a digital release in North America on January 11th, courtesy of Uncork’d Entertainment – and you can check out the trailer for Breeder in the embed above!

Written by Sissel Dalsgaard Thomsen, Breeder has the following synopsis:

A ruthless businesswoman is abducting young women as part of a gruesome bio-hacking experiment to reverse the aging process. When Mia goes to investigate, she finds herself trapped, branded and tortured in an underground medical facility.

Sara Hjort Ditlevsen, Signe Egholm Olsen, Anders Heinrichsen, Eeva Putro, Jens Andersen, and Morten Holst star. Breeder was produced by Maria Møller Christoffersen and Amalie Lyngbo Hjort, with Peter Hyldahl and Tine Klint serving as executive producers.

Keith Leopard, the President of Uncork’d Entertainment, had this to say about the Danish production:

Breeder is a superbly crafted horror film with a real-world reminder that we live in a world measured by youth and beauty. This is a film about the effects of ageing, how the world looks upon you once you do, and a miraculous cure – at a cost. I’m excited for audiences to experience the film in January.”

Breeder has been making the festival rounds in the build-up to this digital release, screening at Sitges in Catalonia, Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival in Croatia, Night Visions in Finland, and MonsterFest in Australia.

The movie looks interesting to me. How does it look to you? Will you be watching Breeder in January? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
