Bring It On: Halloween: Cheerleader franchise gets a horror sequel

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Universal is big on producing direct-to-video sequels to their theatrical films – just look at how many Tremors, Scorpion King, Death Race, and American Pie movies they've made over the years. Another example of this is the Bring It On franchise. Universal has made five DTV sequels to the 2000 Kirsten Dunst / Eliza Dushku cheerleader comedy Bring It On, and now a seventh entry in the franchise is in the works. This isn't usually something we'd cover here on Arrow in the Head, but it turns out that Universal is teaming with Syfy to take the series in a horrific direction with the latest film, Bring It On: Halloween.

Syfy has announced that Bring It On: Halloween will be premiering on their network in 2022. Given the title, we can probably expect to see this in October of 2022.

The name of the writer wasn't revealed, but we do have a plot synopsis:

Held down by restrictive rules, an embattled cheerleading squad seeks the freedom of a creepy, closed school gym to practice for regionals, but when members of the squad start to disappear, the cheerleaders must unmask their assailant to save themselves.

We'll keep you updated on Bring It On: Halloween as the project moves forward. I love slasher movies, so the set-up of cheerleaders being stalked by a masked attacker in a closed school sounds like good entertainment to me. I hope the movie will go all-in on being a horror flick and not hold back for fans of the preceding movies who might not be into horror.
