Brother from the same mother?

The Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey pairing is one of those Hollywood friendships that feels genuine and you know their connection is deep. So deep, in fact, that they have thrown around the humorous idea of taking a DNA test to see if they are actually brothers. “I’ll just say there is some veracity to that thought,” Woody Harrelson said years ago on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. ”We talked to Ma Mac, Matthew’s legitimate mother, and she let us know one time… I mean, this is crazy. We were in Greece, we were watching the U.S. team win the World Cup, and I don’t know, I mentioned something about regrets. And I said, ‘You know, it’s odd that my father has no regrets.’” When Matthew McConaughey’s mother stated that she “knew” Harrelson’s father, they both made note of her tone. “It was the ellipses I found a little troubling,” Harrelson said. “Or interesting. ‘I knew… your father.’“

Brothers TV show

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a comedy series starring the duo called Brothers has set its premiere date on AppleTV. Both Harrelson and McConaughey play themselves in a fictional situation where they try to uncover the truth once and for all.

Per THR, the description of the show says, “After Woody’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, he loads up the family and heads to Austin for an extended stay at Matthew’s ranch. But what begins as a healing getaway quickly spirals when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (Holland Taylor), accidentally lets slip a long-buried secret that the two friends might actually be brothers. As Woody turns the ranch upside down in pursuit of the truth, Matthew finds himself juggling an entirely different identity crisis: a potential run for governor of Texas. The result is a heartfelt, chaotic, and wildly funny story about friendship, family, fame, and the messy line between myth and reality.”

The eight-episode series is executive produced by both Harrelson and McConaughey and is set to premiere on AppleTV starting September 23.
