SWORD OF WOOD huh? I’m sure there’s a penis joke in there somewhere…

Anyhoo, Variety has it that BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER producer Howard Rosenman is teaming with Framelight Productions to bring a tale of vampiric lore set amid the Crusades. Yes, the flick will actually be called SWORD OF WOOD!

Written by comic-book author Chuck Dixon, SWORD OF WOOD tells the story of a landed baron and knight who battles in the Holy Lands at the time of the First Crusade, then returns home to learn that his manor and holdings have been raided by an army of vampires, and his wife and children carried off. This begins his new crusade, going alone against an army of the damned.

Has potential, wouldn’t you say? Obviously keeping with the period-set horror mash-ups, a la ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER and PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, vampires in the crusades seems like an interesting world to explore. What do you think?

Original Buffy, Kristy Swanson
