Slayers: A Buffyverse Story audio drama picks up 10 years after the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series

Audible will be releasing the audio drama Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, a continuation of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series

Twenty years have gone by since the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series reached the end of its seven season run – but on October 12th, Audible will be releasing the original audio drama Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, which features the voices of several Buffy cast members and continues the story of the show, picking up ten years after the events of the series finale.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast member Amber Benson wrote Slayers: A Buffyverse Story with Christopher Golden. Benson and Golden also directed the audio show with Kc Wayland. Slayers promises to bring Buffy fans “a fresh story and a new world, filled with horror, heart, humor, and surprises at every turn.

The story finds that, since the series finale, Spike (James Marsters) has gone deep undercover in Los Angeles, convincing the forces of darkness that he’s back to his evil ways. When his cover is compromised by sixteen-year-old Indira Nunnally (Laya DeLeon Hayes), Spike finds himself on baby-slayer-sitting duty once more. While he attempts to track down a watcher for his eager new protégé, their paths collide with the veteran Slayer of a parallel reality where Buffy Summers never existed… a reality where Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter) is the one-and-only Slayer. She needs Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world… his old flame, Drusilla (Juliet Landau).

Marsters, Carpenter, Landau, and Hayes are joined in the voice cast by Anthony Head, Emma Caulfield Ford, James Charles Leary, Danny Strong, and Benson.

Marsters provided the following statement: “I’m ecstatic to be back with my dear friends for this next chapter in the Buffyverse, as we take listeners on a familiar but unexpected journey chock full of horror, passion and mischief. I’m excited for old and new fans to experience this beloved world of vampire slaying like never before, brought to life through immersive audio storytelling.

Audible’s Chief Content Officer Rachel Ghiazza added: “Slayers: A Buffyverse Story offers a fresh, dynamic take on a cult-classic that takes listeners on a fun and nostalgic ride. The all-star cast reprising beloved roles, as well as newcomers, bring to life a storyline that will entertain fans of the original series and pull in first-time Sunnydale visitors.
