Cabin Fever 2 goes ’80’s

The sequel to Eli Roth’s goofily gory horror/humor hybrid, CABIN FEVER, apparently will not disappoint fans. At least according to Marc Senter, part 2’s star, it won’t. The actor, currently making a killing in THE LOST (just released on DVD), spoke to Fango recently about CB2’s potential as well as its skilled director, Ti (THE ROOST) West. Take a gander:

“This film is going to be awesome. Ti is a good friend of mine, a very sharp kid and super-talented. CABIN FEVER 2 is very different from the first one—it’s basically an ode to 1980s horror movies. It’s like THE KARATE KID meets CARRIE.”

Say what? Actually, you know what? I kind of get what Senter’s saying. Being a big fan of everything ’80’s, I think I can piece together how CB2 is going to flow. Check it: It takes place in high school where a new kid falls for a chick who used to date some asshole, but the asshole picks on the new kid for going after the chick. Then the new kid has to prove himself by fighting his way out of a prom that turns extra bloody. What do you think? Well, if that description doesn’t make your skin crawl, then how about we check out the actual synopsis below. But first, here’s a little more of what Senter had to say:

“I play a character called Marc, oddly enough, and when we were writing him we were saying, ‘Let’s make him like Johnny from THE KARATE KID and have him deliver these taglines, and dialogue, which are straight from the ’80s.’ It was an amazing experience doing CABIN FEVER 2, and the people who have seen it so far have been blown away. I have seen sequences from it, and if Ti had told me that this was a horror film which had been made back in 1984, I would believe it. It has that feel and look to it.”

I hope he’s not lying because I enjoyed the first CABIN FEVER and would welcome a worthy sequel with open, decaying arms. And as promised, here is the real synopsis:

A high school prom faces a deadly threat: a flesh-eating virus that spreads via a popular brand of bottled water. I like my synopsis better.

No news on a release date yet, but hopefully CB2 will be flooding theaters in red soon.
