Candy Cane Lane trailer gives Eddie Murphy more than what he wished for this Christmas

Reginald Hudlin directs Eddie Murphy again in a new Christmas-wish-gone-wrong comedy from Amazon.

Christmas is both a joyous and stressful time. Regardless of which one rings true for you, who doesn’t wish for each year’s holiday to be the best ever? Candy Cane Lane from Prime Video is that cautionary tale for being careful what you wish for. Eddie Murphy adds to his family-friendly movie filmography with this new Christmas comedy from Reginald Hudlin, who brought us House Party and directed Murphy in 1992’s Boomerang. Prime Video recently released the details, images and poster. Today, Amazon has released the trailer for the new holiday film.

The official synopsis from Amazon reads,
“Eddie Murphy stars in this holiday comedy adventure about a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest. After Chris (Eddie Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town. At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.”

The holiday film stars Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, D.C. Young Fly, Danielle Pinnock, Timothy Simons, Riki Lindhome and Stephen Tobolowsky.

Hudlin directs a script from the writer of recent Muppets projects, Muppets Now and Muppets Haunted Mansion, Kelly Younger. Younger’s script is inspired by his own childhood holiday experiences on Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo, CA. The film comes from Imagine Entertainment, and producers include Brian Grazer, Eddie Murphy, Karen Lunder, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster. Murphy has worked with Imagine for numerous projects in the past, including his hit Nutty Professor films.

Candy Cane Lane will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on December 1.
