Candyman: Day of the Dead gets Vestron Video Blu-ray release

Last Updated on January 19, 2022

The Candyman sequels aren’t very highly regarded in general, with the third film – Candyman: Day of the Dead – usually being written off completely… but the folks at Vestron Video have decided to show Candyman: Day of the Dead some respect by giving it a Blu-ray release as part of their Collector’s Series. Copies can be purchased RIGHT HERE. Wisely, they’re only asking $11.99 for this one.

Directed by Turi Meyer, who co-wrote the screenplay with Al Septien, Candyman: Day of the Dead has the following synopsis:

Art collector Caroline McKeever conjures up the spirit of her relative, Daniel Robitaille (Tony Todd), an African-American painter who was lynched by a white mob generations before. Daniel, who wants Caroline to join him in vengeance, begins murdering her friends and making her appear responsible for the killings. As the bodies pile up, Caroline tries to convince racist police officer L.V. Sacco that the real culprit is Daniel, the famous “Candyman” killer.

The film stars Donna D’Errico, Robert O’Reilly, Jsu Garcia, Wade Williams, Alexia Robinson, Lupe Ontiveros, Ernie Hudson Jr., and Rena Riffel, with Tony Todd as Candyman.

Bonus features on the Blu-ray include

Audio Commentary with Director-Cowriter Turi Meyer and Producer-Cowriter Al Septien

Isolated Score Selections featuring an Audio Interview with Composer Adam Gorgoni

“On The Hook” — An Interview with Actor Tony Todd

I don’t like Candyman: Day of the Dead, but this sounds like a good release of it and the cover art looks very cool.
