Captain America’s Russo brothers to adapt The Warriors for TV

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The Russo brothers seemingly came out of nowhere (as far as audiences were concerned) and delivered one of the greatest comic book films of all time in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Many were unsure if they could capture lightning in a bottle once more, but I think it's safe to say that CIVIL WAR left few people disappointed. So now that they've proved that their directing prowess is not a fluke, what's next? How about a delicious slice of 70s cheese?

As Deadline reports, Joe and Anthony Russo are adapting THE WARRIORS as a one-hour drama with Paramount TV and Hulu. The original film followed the titular gang as they were set-up for the murder of a gang leader and hunted down as they tried to make their way back home. For those unitiated, the original remains a cult-classic, delivering 70s charm and, ironically enough, a comic book feel to its proceedings. Frank Baldwin (THE GODMOTHER) will be teaming up to write the series. No word on whether or not the Russo's will jump in to direct the pilot.
