Cara Buono joins Winona Ryder in Netflix’s Stranger Things

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

Cara Buono, who recently had recurring roles on AMC's MAD MEN and CBS's PERSON OF INTEREST, has signed to be a series regular on Netflix's upcoming supernatural drama STRANGER THINGS (which was originally titled MONTAUK).

Buono joins a cast that includes Winona Ryder, Ross Partridge, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, and Charlie Heaton.

Created by twin brothers Matt and Ross Duffer and executive produced by Shawn Levy, STRANGER THINGS is said to be "a love letter to the '80s classics that captivated a generation" and

is set in 1980 Indiana, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

Buono has some genre credits to her name, including the television series based on Stephen King's THE DEAD ZONE, the recent King adaptation A GOOD MARRIAGE, LET ME IN, and the 2007 film CTHULHU. In STRANGER THINGS, she'll be playing the mother of two of the children who are searching for the missing boy.

STRANGER THINGS will make its eight episode debut on Netflix sometime in 2016.

I will be binge-watching this show for sure, because the 1980s Indiana setting and "love letter to '80s classics" description hit me right in the nostalgia.
