Carpenter-meets-Predator film Pandorica gets an October release

Earlier this month, I wrote about a Brazilian film called MOTORRAD that is said to have elements of PREDATOR and the works of John Carpenter in its DNA (with some ALIEN in there as well). While we wait for distribution news on MOTORRAD, there is another film on the way that is being described as "John Carpenter meets PREDATOR" project, writer/director Tom Paton's feature debut PANDORICA.

Starring Jade Fenix Hobday, Marc Zammit, Adam Bond, Ahmed Hashimi, and Bentley Kalu, PANDORICA is a sci-fi / horror / suspense / action blend set

in a world that’s plunged into a new dark age where humanity devolves into a vicious, primal state. A trio of youths, Eiren, Ares and Thade, have been selected to take part in the leadership trials of The Varosha Tribe, with the winner claiming the tribe for themselves. They must battle dark and mysterious forces if one of them is to win, but not everyone is worthy of becoming a leader, and the trio soon learn that fighting each other may be the only path to victory.

Paton has also namechecked ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, MAD MAX, and APOCALYPTO as being influences on his "visually-stunning, relentlessly thrilling" film.

PANDORICA is definitely making all the right references to get me interested in seeing what Paton has done here. Viewers in the U.S. will be able to see this British indie when it receives an On Demand, DVD, and limited theatrical release on October 11th.
