Christian Bale, Casey Affleck and Zoe Saldana…how’s that for gritty revenge trio?!?

Twice before we’ve written about OUT OF THE FURNACE, Scott Cooper’s 70s style retribution thriller garnering comparisons to NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. At last blush, Oscar Winner Christian Bale had signed on to star in the flick, and now it seems he’s about to get a pair of talented co-stars…

According to Variety, the sexy Zoe Saldana (AVATAR, COLOMBIANA) is circling a deal to star in OUT OF THE FURNACE, set to play Bale’s ex-wife, a waitress now married to the town sheriff. Word is Robert Duvall is expected to play Bale’s uncle.

Hours later came the news from Deadline, which was intimated in the Variety article. Casey Affleck (above) is also poised to join the film, set to play Bale’s unlucky brother. Brush up to make more sense of it:

OUT OF THE FURNACE is a dark drama set in 1986 Indiana. Bale will play protagonist Slim, a man released after serving years in prison for murder who wants only to follow through on his promise to marry his long-suffering girlfriend. But when he discovers his brother has been murdered after getting involved in a gambling racket, his goals change and he avenges the murder.

Gratuity is no substitute for goodness, and despite not knowing how damn bloody OUT OF THE FURNACE will ultimately be…I’m willing to bet it’ll be a pretty good movie. A rarity, so it might be best to give it some love around here. Ya dig?!?

ZOE!!!
