While there hasn't been any news on an actor taking the part or details on the character appearing in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, many have still wondered if Casey Jones will be in the new film. Geek Tyrant talked to someone close to the project, and unfortunately, they say the character will definitely not appear in Jonathan Liebesman's film.
The answer I got, sadly, was a defeating "No." Instead of Casey Jones (my favorite TMNT character), the film is making Will Arnett's role as Vernon Fenwick bigger. Now that isn't to say we won't see Casey Jones in the future. William Fichtner recently said that he signed on for 3 films. But I'm still peeved.

I'm sure he's not the only one peeved. Clearly a TMNT film can still work without the character (it is called TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES after all, not CASEY JONES AND HIS GREEN FRIENDS), but it is still kind of disappointing he won't be in the reboot. He's a fan-favorite character, and he's almost as well known as the turtles, so why make Vernon Fenwick's role in the film bigger? Maybe they have plans for him in future films, but I feel like it's a missed opportunity not having Casey Jones in the reboot.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES also stars Megan Fox, Danny Woodburn, Whoopi Goldberg, Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard and Noel Fisher, and will hit theaters on August 8th, 2014.
