Action maestro David Leitch has another project on his slate, as Deadline has reported that he’s set to direct Channing Tatum in Red Shirt, a spy thriller based on an original pitch from Simon Kinberg,

Although the title definitely makes me think of Star Trek, there aren’t many details about Red Shirt other than it’s a “new spin on James Bond” and has “franchise potential.” David Leitch and Kelly McCormick are producing under their 87 North production banner, with Channing Tatum producing through his Free Association banner and Simon Kinberg producing through his Genre Films banner. The package has already attracted offers from several studios that are hot on the concept.

Channing Tatum will next be seen in Magic Mike’s Last Dance, the third installment of the unlikely blockbuster franchise. Tatum returns as Mike Lane, who takes to the stage again after a lengthy hiatus following a business deal that went bust, leaving him broke and taking bartending gigs in Florida. For what he hopes will be one last hurrah, Mike heads to London with a wealthy socialite (Salma Hayek) who lures him with an offer he can’t refuse… and an agenda all her own. With everything on the line, once Mike discovers what she truly has in mind, will he — and the roster of hot new dancers he’ll have to whip into shape — be able to pull it off? Steven Soderbergh returned to direct from a script by Reid Carolin, who also wrote the first two movies. The sequel will hit theaters on February 10, 2023.

As for David Leitch, he’s currently filming The Fall Guy, a feature-film adaptation of the classic 1980s series of the same name. Ryan Gosling will star as a “battered and past-his-prime stuntman who finds himself back on a movie with the star he worked with long ago and who replaced him. The problem, however, is that the star is now missing.” The film also stars Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Stephanie Hsu, Winston Duke, and Hannah Waddingham and is set for a March 1, 2024 release.
