Yesterday, we shared the news that di Bonaventura Pictures and Caliber Media are moving forward with a reboot of Full Moon's PUPPET MASTER franchise, hiring BONE TOMAHAWK's S. Craig Zahler to write a film titled PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH, which they're hoping will be the start of a whole new PUPPET MASTER series. This news left many fans wondering how a reboot would affect the original franchise, particularly the sequel that has already been in the works, PUPPET MASTER: AXIS TERMINATION.

Last night, Full Moon founder Charles Band, who will be serving as executive producer on THE LITTLEST REICH and is set to direct AXIS TERMINATION, sent out an update on the status of AXIS TERMINATION that will allow fans to rest assured, the original franchise continues.

Originally expected to start filming in January or February, AXIS TERMINATION has been delayed several months due to the availability of the special effects artists and puppeteers that are necessary to bring the planned mayhem to the screen. After working out the schedules, the film now has an official production start date: filming begins on September 12th.

The plot of AXIS TERMINATION remains a secret, but we do know that this film, the eleventh in the Full Moon series and the twelfth counting the SciFi Channel production PUPPET MASTER VS. DEMONIC TOYS, will wrap up the World War II era storyline that began with PUPPET MASTER: AXIS OF EVIL and continued with PUPPET MASTER X: AXIS RISING.
