Charlie Cox not sure about a Daredevil return

Charlie cox daredevil return

Ever since Daredevil ended its run on Netflix, fans have been clamouring for the return of Charlie Cox as “The Man Without Fear.” After all, he made for a pretty terrific Matt Murdock. Whatever issues anyone ever had with the show, everyone agreed he was perfect casting. However, while Cox himself has previously suggested that he’d be open to reprising the role now that Disney controls the rights, he seemed a little wary during a recent SiriusXM interview (excerpted by THR). While still keen on the part, he suggested that such a return can be dicey:

“You’ve got to be careful what you wish for…You come back, and it’s not as good or it doesn’t quite work or it’s too much time has passed. It doesn’t quite come together in the same way. You don’t want to taint what you’ve already got. If we never come back, you’ve got these three great seasons and our third season was our best reviewed. So, the trajectory was up. I am tremendously proud and grateful for what we have.”

He seems to be playing it safe here, as he seems well aware that Marvel could easily just recast the role if they decide to use the character again. This possibility makes a Charlie Cox Daredevil return perhaps a tad unlikely.

“If there was an opportunity for me to come back as Daredevil, whatever that would look like, I imagine it would be a reimagining of the character and the show. If they choose me to do it, there are going to be some elements that are of course the same. Or they might choose someone else and reboot it all over again.”

I imagine we’ve definitely not seen the last of Daredevil, but whether or not Cox plays him again is up in the air. That said, I hope Cox comes back. He was a great Daredevil and seems primed to grow in the part. But, hey, with the multiverse, even if the role is recast, a return in some capacity is never out of the question.
