MAD MAX: FURY ROAD put Charlize Theron in the front seat, and not only solidified her as one of Hollywood’s best working actresses, but proved she’s capable of holding her own in mind-boggling action scenes. Now she’s getting to take that up a notch and lead her own outing as a super-secret spy who uses fridges, ropes and her shoes to put the hurt on her enemies. A new trailer has just emerged, and it’s enough to make you forget all about that Jason Bourne fellow, and even that Neeson chap.
The crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission. Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.
This new lengthy trailer really delivers the goods, and not just that Theron/Sofia Boutella one-on-one we saw in the earlier footage. We see way more of the hyper-stylized action across long, uninterrupted takes, and all of it looks absolutely incredible. James McAvoy will probably make a fine asset as well, getting to showcase his charm and a few action tricks as well.
