GORE VERBINSKI's latest film, A CURE FOR WELLNESS, follows an ambitious young executive who is sent to retrieve his company's CEO from an idyllic but mysterious "wellness center" at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa's miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure. It's been a hot minute since we've seen any output from Verbinski and after 2013's THE LONE RANGER, I don't blame the man for wanting to take a break. Still, before he was the "PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN guy", Verbinski crafted stories with a great sense of atmosphere. Judging from this synopsis, A CURE FOR WELLNESS will follow suit.
