Yep, you read that right. I said action-packed. For those of you who went to high school in the United States and didn’t rely on Cliff’s Notes, you probably don’t remember too much action in THE GREAT GATSBY. But, when making a movie these days you often need to alter even the classics. Baz Luhrmann proved with his ROMEO + JULIET that this can often work wonders for the source text.

This new TV spot is a great addition to the two full trailers for THE GREAT GATSBY that we have already seen. It is full of anachronistic music, beautiful camera work, and a star-studded cast. Even in this brief half minute video we have another great rollercoaster of what to expect from the movie.

THE GREAT GATSBY is going to find F. Scott Fitzgerald a whole generation of new fans but could possibly alienate the literati who hold the novel in high regard. I consider myself both a film and literature buff, but I am willing to go along with this little experiment. If Luhrmann fails, so be it, but I am sure it will be one heck of a visual feast.

THE GREAT GATSBY, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Magure, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, and Jason Clarke opens on May 10, 2013 in 3D.
