Check out the new theatrical IMAX trailer for Batman V Superman

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

After the very brief first teaser for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, we got a ton of footage in the Comic Con trailer last weekend. Clocking in at five minutes, we are still dissecting every scene and easter egg in the preview for Zack Snyder‘s epic smackdown. But, five minute trailers are not commonly shown in general theaters, so a new condensed trailer has been released.

The new IMAX theatrical trailer for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE hits all of the same beats as the Comic Con version but it is more tightly edited with some footage hitting home with a little more authority than the lengthy cut. I almost like this version better as it keeps some elements hidden and keeping the focus squarely on Batman and Superman. We still see General Zod’s body and get that awkward “red capes are coming” line from Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor.

The Comic Con trailer is one of those things that likely would have remained an exclusive for those on site in San Diego but Warner Bros played it safe and released it online. If this was the only trailer we had gotten online, I think people would have been very satisfied. If anything, it comes across as less indulgent, something people have criticized Zack Snyder‘s work as being. Here’s hoping the reception to this cut is met with equal or better results.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE opens on March 25, 2016.
