The 3D trend is taking over the world, as made evident by the teaser trailer for Chile’s first 3D film, LOS ELEMENTALES. Unfortunately it seems that in addition to being plagued by unnecessary 3D, Chile also suffers from the same lackluster CGI as we do in America.
LOS ELEMENTALES recounts the odyssey of an American geologist who goes to the south of Chile accompanied by a preteen daughter obsessed with the paranormal. She, who enjoys the strange happenings, encounters a haunted house inhabited by “beings”; among them are gnomes, elves, and fairies.
Anyone else else get a bit of a PAN’S LABYRINTH feel from this one? Although there are some nice visuals, the preview is ruined by the cheesy CGI. Check it out below and judge for yourself. Hopefully the feature will make some much-needed improvements.
The dark fantasy film is directed by Jorge Olguin – who also helmed Chile’s first zombie film, SOLOS. It will hit Chilean theaters in late 2011.
