Chris Hemsworth envisions Thor 3 taking Asgard straight to Hell

The first THOR showed how the Asgardian prince had to rise above himself to become a hero. THOR: THE DARK WORLD promises to take the character to the next level as he defends Asgard and Earth from the threat of Malekith and the Dark Elves. If star Chris Hemsworth is right, the inevitable trilogy capping next chapter will take everyone straight to Hell.

In an interview for THOR: THE DARK WORLD, Screen Rant reports that Hemsworth has an idea for where the next film will take Thor and the rest of Asgard: a little place called Ragnarok.

“I think what’s good about this is that each time, with the Avengers, we sort of made it difficult to separate them each time there’s some sort of conflict it’s like where’s the rest of the team? And I liked that Thor has another universe or the universe to sort of take care of and keep him occupied. I think that in the comic book the sort of end of days, Armageddon aspect is probably the direction in which it will all head in. Where it’s sort of the end of all things and there’s obviously no script or anything when I read the comic books I thought it was an interesting way to go.”

Much like how IRON MAN 3 took everything built in the prior films and tore it down, THOR 3 should do the same. The hero that Thor has become needs to be challenged to lose everything and everyone he holds dear. While THOR: THE DARK WORLD seems poised to do that, putting Asgard in the way of utter annihilation will take the series to a level never before seen. Just imagine the scope of what that movie could look like.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD may be Alan Taylor‘s first and last stop in the franchise, I would love to see him bring his visual style to an Armageddon storyline. Until then, we can begin enjoying THOR: THE DARK WORLD when it hits theaters on November 8th.
