Chris Pine in talks to play Wonder Woman’s love interest

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Who better to romance Wonder Woman than Captain Kirk? The Wrap reports that Chris Pine is in talks to play the love interest for Gal Gadot in Patty Jenkins' WONDER WOMAN. With the film slated to begin production later this year, the film needs to pull together the primary cast. Pine's casting would provide a big name to help carry the film.

While most of the news surrounding WONDER WOMAN has focused on the creative differences between former director Michelle MacLaren and Warner Bros brass, we truly do not have many details as to exactly what the film will be about. There has been quite a bit of rumor about the movie and with the studio refusing to comment on the Chris Pine news, this falls into that category as well. Pine's casting would make sense as there have been rumors that he was being considered for the role of Green Lantern. If the WONDER WOMAN casting is true, that explains his meetings with DC.

WONDER WOMAN is going to have her debut in next year's BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE and the studio is banking on her to be their gateway to the female demographic that has been yearning for a superhero movie with a woman in the lead. Marvel has yet to make any announcements about CAPTAIN MARVEL, so DC finally has an edge with this film. Here's hoping Gadot wins over those unsure about her casting as the Amazon princess when she debuts in 2016.

WONDER WOMAN is scheduled to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
