Chris Pine uncovers the dark side of Hollywood in I Am the Night trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Before Patty Jenkins and Chris Pine return to the big-screen for WONDER WOMAN 1984, the pair will be reuniting for a six-part TNT mini-series by the name of I Am the Night. Inspired by true events, the series will tell the incredible true story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a teenage girl who was given away at birth but later makes a discovery which leads her to question everything. "As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets of her past, she meets a ruined reporter (Pine), haunted by the case that undid him. Together they follow a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Los Angeles gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel (Jefferson Mays), a man involved in some of Hollywood’s darkest debauchery, and possibly, its most infamous unsolved crime." That would be the Black Dahlia murder, a truly heinous crime in which a young woman was mulitated and severed at the waist.

In addition to serving as executive producer of I Am the Night, Patty Jenkins also directed two episodes, with Carl Franklin (House of Cards) and Victoria Mahoney (Claws) helming the remaining four. The series will also be the second installment of what TNT is now referring to as the TNT Suspense Collection, following in the footsteps of The Alienist. "At TNT, we think well-crafted suspense is the ultimate form of compelling drama. The anticipation of what’s to come taps into the deepest parts of our imagination. Suspense hooks us, immerses us, thrills us, and pays off with a twist we never see coming," reads a TNT press-release. "The TNT Suspense Collection™ will feature premium scripted dramas as well as entertainment and experiences beyond the television screen."

I Am the Night will premiere on TNT on January 28, 2019.
