Regardless of the fact that he can be hit or miss, when I think "epic", I think Ridley Scott. The man's filmography speaks for itself and I'd say that the good definitely outweighs the bad. I've always enjoyed watching the man at work in countless documentaries on his films, and you can see he's a director that commands respect from all of his actors. EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS is right up Mr. Scott's alley, and a few pictures have hit to give us an idea of what the film has in-store for us.

The article also has a few words from the cast and crew (you can check it out here) but the one bit of information I enjoyed reading was from Mr. Scott himself.

In regards to shooting EXODUS:

I haven’t had that much fun in a while.

While that says nothing for the end product, it's when directors become bored with their job or the material that makes me question what they're doing. Making a film is an endurance trial, and director's should have a real passion for their work. Ridley Scott usually seems passionate about what he's shooting, and his period-pieces always have a great feel of authenticity. I look forward to seeing a bit more when the trailer hits.

EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS, staring Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley, and Aaron Paul, will be released on December 12, 2014.
