Oh the dreaded FRIGHT NIGHT remake… Most people seem to be disgusted by this project while others are keeping an open mind about it. I mean the casting and descriptions seem far off from the original so perhaps this remake will be a completely different movie? So why dub it a remake? The questions keep coming but we won’t have any answers until October 7, 2011.

Actually today we do have an answer! One major question a lot of fans have had recently is what will FRIGHT NIGHT 3D be rated? Now the original was cushioned in with all those other classic 80s horror flicks so it sported a solid R rating. A concern of many is that this remake would be hit with the dreaded PG-13 rating. That’s understandable considering that not only is the film coming from Disney and DreamWorks but it’s also coming at a time where R rated horror is either hit or miss at the box office, with miss happening more times than not. So enough of my rambling… What’s this thing going to be rated?!

Well according to star Christopher Mintz-Plasse we’re looking at an R rating folks!

“It’s totally a cheesy, campy 80’s movie… and I loved it. They’re trying to keep (the remake) very similar but give a different take on the cast. It’ll be in 3D, so it’s a little more Hollywood. And they’re keeping it rated R, which is good.”

That’s what the young actor told the Chicago Tribune this past weekend and we couldn’t be happier to hear it! You can rest easy genre fans… at least for now…

Mintz-Plasse (above) joins Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, David Tennant, Toni Collette, Asim Ahmad and Imogen Poots (below) in the Craig Gillespie directed film about a teenager who discovers his neighbors are vampires. Filming on FRIGHT NIGHT 3D kicks off next month so be sure to check back here for more on the project soon!
