A couple decades after facing off with Jason Voorhees in Jason X (watch it HERE), Lexa Doig is now set to cross paths with another genre icon, as she has signed on for a role in Syfy and USA Network's Child's Play television series Chucky.

Don Mancini, who has written every film in the Child's Play franchise (except for the remake) and directed a few of them, developed Chucky with producer David Kirschner. They are executive producing the show with Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, and Nick Antosca. Mancini is also directing the first episode. The show has the following synopsis:

After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

Doig joins a cast that includes Devon Sawa, Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Jennifer Tilly, and Fiona Dourif, with Brad Dourif once again providing the voice of Chucky the killer doll.

Syfy Wire reports that Doig will be playing "Bree Webber. Married to Logan (Sawa), she is the aunt of Jake Webber (Arthur), one of the teenage leads".

In addition to Jason X, Doig's previous credits include TekWar, the '90s TV version of Flash Gordon, Andromeda, The 4400, Stargate SG-1, Eureka, Supernatural, the 2010 version of V, Smallville, Continuum, and Arrow.

The first season of Chucky will consist of 10 episodes and is expected to premiere on Syfy and USA sometime in the fall.
