Over in Sci Fi Wire land, the site had a little chat with Frank Miller while he was out promoting 300, who revealed that the sequel to SIN CITY is all set to begin filming.
“The script is largely done, and now we’re in that limbo zone where we’re casting and making script adjustments as we go.” said Miller, who also revealed more on the plot of the film, which is to revolve around the ‘A Dame To Kill For’ storyline, as well as a completely new side story involving Nancy aka Jessica Alba aka my wife-to-be.
“[The film will also deal with] a couple of old stories and one brand-new one,” Miller added. “The old ones are a couple of ‘Blue Eyes’ stories, and there’s an ‘Old Town Girls’ story, and the new one features Nancy Callahan [played by Jessica Alba] in a very different, very scary role. I’m hoping we’ll start in late spring. It gets pretty hot in Austin, so there might be a summer’s interruption there, but both [director] Robert [Rodriguez] and I really want to be shooting this thing as soon as possible.”
It’s kind of a bummer that Angelina Jolie won’t be in the film, but at least we get Rachel Weisz, so my pants are happy. Plus it’ll be interesting to see what Clive Owen’s makeup will be like (for those who don’t know Clive’s character, Dwight, has a little cosmetic surgery in the story, which precedes ‘The Big Fat Kill’).
SIN CITY 2 is set for release sometime this year.
