The last we heard from THE EXPERIMENT remake camp was the casting of Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, Elijah Wood, and Cam Gigandet (check that shit out HERE). Today Variety is reporting that another talented actor has joined the cast: one Clifton Collins Jr.!
Very nice! I’ve liked Collins since his role as the cracked out drug dealer in THE RULES OF ATTRACTION, and have dug him in everything he’s done ever since. The guy can transform into any role and really make you believe it… the kind of solid, quality actor that THE EXPERIMENT seems to be demanding. He won’t get top billing, but I’ll probably check this sucker out just for him.
Based on DAS EXPERIMENT from Oliver Hirschbiegel, [THE EXPERIMENT is] centered on a group of ordinary men recruited to take on the roles of guards and prisoners as part of a research study and examined how the effects of assigned roles, power and control affected the participants.
No specific details as to Collins’ role in the film (guard or prisoner), but whatever it is you know he’ll bring a level of creepiness to it. He has a tenancy to do that (check out CRANK 2: HIGH VOLTAGE to see what I mean).
