Ghost in the Shell Scarlett Johansson Rupert Sanders

Having no familiarity with the manga GHOST IN THE SHELL, I have to admit that I have absolutely no idea what's going on in the teaser footage for director Rupert Sanders' live action adaptation. As you can see below, the teaser clips are very short, adding up to a total of just 55 seconds, and show brief glimpses of characters and intriguing imagery taken out of context. I don't know what it all means, but I do like what I see.

This version of GHOST IN THE SHELL stars Scarlett Johansson as Major,

a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Johansson's co-stars include Rila Fukushima, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, Juliette Binoche, Beat Takeshi, Kaori Momoi, Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tuwanda Manyimo.

Jonathan Herman and Jamie Moss wrote the screenplay for the adaptation, which will be reaching theatres on March 31, 2017.

If you are familiar with the manga, check out the clips below and see if you can decipher them. If you're not, press play and see if they capture your interest.
