Prepare to crane kick alongside Daniel and Johnny one more time, folks. Netflix is renewing Cobra Kai for a sixth and final season, according to series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg. The trifecta shared a letter with fans of the martial arts drama on Friday, addressing the honor they feel to have been a part of growing the Karate Kid franchise throughout the years.

In the letter, the trio humbly expresses the thrill of contributing to the Karate Kid universe, saying they never imagined becoming a part of the timeless franchise and martial arts drama. “Reacquainting the world with The Karate Kid universe has been our humble honor. Making Cobra Kai has allowed us to join the same hallowed dojo once inhabited by the great Robert Mark Kamen, John Avildsen, Jerry Weintraub, and the amazing original cast members. It also has enabled us to play sensei, expanding the original storylines and birthing a new generation of underdogs. We’ve never once taken this opportunity for granted,” the team states in the write-up.

In addition to sharing the open letter to Cobra Kai fans, Netflix unveiled a Cobra Kai Season 6 announcement video. In the footage, Netflix recaps pivotal moments from the first five seasons of the mega-successful series. The video focuses on the complicated relationship between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and the troubled Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). However, the footage also highlights new additions to the Karate Kid canon, who have worked tirelessly to bring the franchise to new heights over the past several years.

While this is the end of Cobra Kai, the show’s co-creator, Hayden Schlossberg, spoke with GamesRadar last year, saying there are ideas for spinoff projects. “That’s what we love most about the franchise: anybody watching our show sees how many characters are entering in and there’s part of us that never wants to stop,” Schlossberg said. “We do have a place where it’s all going, but that doesn’t mean the world has to stop there. We have lots of ideas of continuing [the universe] and keeping the Karate Kid vibes going through other stories and other shows and different formats for that.” However, you shouldn’t expect to see Cobra Kai spinoffs anytime soon, as Schlossberg added that they’re purely focused on the main series right now.”

What do you think about Cobra Kai coming to an end? Do you wish the show would continue, or is it time to hang it up and focus on something new? Feel free to let us know what you think in the comments.
