Director Edgar Wright dropped a Tweet a week ago about his involvement for laying down a commentary track for DON’T, his faux trailer featured between PLANET TERROR and DEATH PROOF during the theatrical run of GRINDHOUSE in the spring of 2007 (check out the scoopage HERE). This Tweet all-but confirmed the long-awaited and way overdue GRINDHOUSE re-release on video as one solid package… today we’ve received official confirmation that yes, the GRINDHOUSE: SPECIAL EDITION is coming!
And when I say it’s coming, I’m saying it’s coming sooner than you’d think! According to High-Def Digest, GRINDHOUSE: SPECIAL EDITION is coming to Blu-ray on October 5, 2010! Just in time for the prime Halloween holiday season and in plenty of time for Thanksgiving so you and your family can loop Eli Roth’s faux trailer on turkey day and watch it over and over and over again!
The Blu-ray is all that’s being discussed at this point, no word on whether or not they even plan on releasing the Robert Rodriguez /Quentin Tarantino double feature on DVD (my guess they will, but you never know).
So there you have it. After 3 years of wishing and hoping GRINDHOUSE would have been released the way it was seen in theaters, it’s finally happening. Joy! To check out the full scoop, click HERE, and get ready for GRINDHOUSE: SPECIAL EDITION October 5, 2010!
One of the best Rolling Stone covers of all time!
