Fans of the zombie-comedy (aka zom-com) who aren’t getting thrilled enough by the trailer for ZOMBIETOWN have another zom-com to look forward to in the vein of ‘Shaun of the Dead’ for American audiences.
Stoked? Intrigued? Bored already? Circle of Confusion (a film production company) has picked up the zom-com thriller GATEKEEPER, about a simple mistake that leaves three friends to defend their town from a zombie outbreak.
Pretty generic, but the cast already attached to the script has the potential to rock our socks off! Written and directed by
Isaac Meisenheimer, GATEKEEPER will feature Matthew O’Leary, Lea Thompson, Judge Reinhold, Ron Perlman, and Jana Kramer! That’s right, Thompson, Rienhold, and Perlman in a flippin’ zombie movie! Nice!
Producer Stephen Emery is the one responsible for describing GATEKEEPER as another SHAUN OF THE DEAD, a quote I find ridiculous because I’m pretty sure it was a funny and effective zom-com that Americans “got” and enjoyed. But what the hell do I know anyway?
Douche producer aside, the film sounds like it could be pretty rockin’ based solely on the cast already lined up to star. The premise could go either way, and it all depends on how far they go in the zombie department, but I’m down to give it a try! Production is set to start this September.
