Contagion scribe Scott Z. Burns wanted for Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner reboot

A pretty smart move, wouldn’t you say?

Ridley Scott, knowing full well that if Alcon Entertainment is hell-bent on redoing BLADE RUNNER in some capacity, it’s best suited in his directorial hands. He also knows that no matter how stunning his visuals and set designs are, without a solid script, the film will ultimately fall flat. So if he knows all this, and needs a writer to come in and make this sucker hum…who else to go to but a man who’s worked with Steven Soderbergh and David Fincher in successive outings?

Yup, that’s my long winded way of announcing that Scott Z. Burns is in talks to pen the script for Ridley’s untitled BLADE RUNNER reboot. Word comes from Twitch, which claims Burns is Scott’s “top choice” to write the film. Unless 100% tied-up schedule wise, I’m thinking this Burns cat wouldn’t be too wise to turn Ridley down. I mean, would you?

Still, all this is a bit premature. Scott is still hard at work on PROMETHEUS, which is set for a June release. Burns just completed CONTAGION, and is in pre-production on Soderbergh’s THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. He also has Finceher’s 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA on his plate.
