Cool Horror Videos: An app predicts time of death in Justin Dec’s Countdown

Once again, it appears that making a short film is a great way to break into the entertainment industry as a horror director these days.

Just last week, we shared the news that Elizabeth Lail will be starring in writer/director Justin Dec's feature debut COUNTDOWN, which will tell the story of

a young nurse who downloads an app that claims to predict exactly when a person is going to die. When it tells her she only has three days to live, she must find a way to save her life before time runs out, all while a mysterious figure haunts her.

Since then, an Arrow in the Head reader has gotten in contact with me to point out that Dec has a 5 minute short film called COUNTDOWN on his official website. Just like the announced feature, this COUNTDOWN deals with an app that is counting down to the moment when a young woman is supposedly going to die – so it seems that Dec might have used this short as a "proof of concept" to get a longer version made.

Starring Eric Jungmann and Anne Leighton, the 5 minute COUNTDOWN can be seen right here… but be warned, if you don't like the Sheb Wooley song "Purple People Eater", this short might drive you nuts.
