Even people who haven’t seen David Cronenberg’s SCANNERS are well aware of its famous exploding head scene, it’s just one of those iconic cinematic moments that will always be talked about. A behind-the-scenes video, which is part of The Criterion Collection Blu-ray and DVD release, dissects that very scene in which photographer Mark Irwin, special effects supervisor Gary Zeller, and makeup artists Stephen Dupuis and Chris Wallas discuss the effect.
