Cool Horror Videos: Creating the sound of Godzilla

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

One of my favorite moments in Gareth Edwards’ GODZILLA is the first time we hear the mighty roar from the King of Monsters. It shook the theater walls, setting the tone for the rest of the film in what would be a solid return for the big, fire-breathing bastard. If you ever wondered what kind of work went into creating the sound for GODZILLA, we got our hands on a 45 minute video in which Sound Designer Erik Aadahl and Supervising Sound Editor Ethan Van der Ryn talk about what went on behind the scenes to create the epic sounds of GODZILLA.

So, if you’ve got 45 minutes to kill, this is a pretty good way to do it!
