The newly released live action version of the classic Disney cartoon PETE'S DRAGON doesn't hold much appeal for me. I didn't pay attention while it was being put together, I never watched a trailer for it. It didn’t even sink in that it stars Robert Redford and Bryce Dallas Howard.
What does hold great appeal for me is the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise, so when I saw that Funny or Die had posted a mash-up trailer combining clips from FRIDAY THE 13TH movies with PETE'S DRAGON, I had to check it out. And I have to say, I'm impressed.
This trailer is cut together so well that I'm left wanting to see a movie with the story that this mash-up weaves, one about a youth who gets lost in the woods and is taken under the wing of a backwoods slasher. A slasher who protects him and helps him survive, while also killing anyone else who ventures into their wilderness. That would be fun to watch play out.
